Cor Cor Cor busier
Aw, that'll be how you spell it then!
Made it to the cathedral crypt - soo glad I went
Real arty farty day all in all
Sadly not allowed to take photographs but if you go to "architect .com " there are some photos of the space there
(going to try to do a link now...)
http://www.architecture.com/WhatsOn/Exhibitions/lecorbusier/exhibition.aspx
there now that wasn't too painful was it?
and this straight to the Art
http://www.architecture.com/WhatsOn/Exhibitions/lecorbusier/Gallery/Exhibition5.aspx
also went to see Sue and Bob's "work in progress" for the Eight days a week - Livepool and Koln exchange
High Tide Low Tide
The Life of Dan - (incorporating Helen's inks!)
this was at the Bluecoat Chambers
http://www.bluecoatdisplaycentre.com/aboutus.asp
where...
there was a Nordic (Ta Da!) exhibition on in one of the galleries.
(bought two books "Nordic felted knits" by Gerd Fjellanger - and a jewellery making book.)
I have mentally blotted out any unsavoury moments of the day and am now about to refuel before attempting to limp out dancing (in my mind), together with general carousing and mischief making.
My little furry friends (the cats...) are sleeping peacefully

Greetings from the land of the long white paw
Went to my local fabric shop today
bought a yard of fairly tightly woven hessian for the next incarnation of my hat tomorrow at college
mustn't forget the ribbons I took back out of the skip yesterday (complete with a 1970's plastic fantastic container)
and all my bits from my summer courses too - thanks to Helen
oh yes I need my Viking Book to do a silk screen of the urnes style art - maybe
best get that now as I am not too good in the mornings
ahh inspiraion - golden booty (coins etc) for decoration
too much thinking not enough doing
ciao x

Emptying the house of our past
Blah de blah de blah details...
etc
Took Sue's advice and Susan's too
took some photo's of the CELLAR
oops just been joined by Sid for his - evening cuddle - gone off in a sulk due to my continued fascination with the laptop
is now snacking which I feel was his intention all along
photos from the cellar
mostly from the room referrred to as the "Prison" in our chidhood
toys not us I must say
as I've said before 40 odd years of memories...

We are not amused
Two gifts
a banana leaf and an unwanted cat door stop that needed a new home
sadly neither Suki or Sid are impressed so it will have to come to work with me
the banana leaf is drying out on the wall in the bedroom but I may try to do a leaf print with it
that means I will have to start reading my India Flint book and not just look at the pictures
just watching Tom Jones singing his new record live on Graham Norton
cats are scrapping over territory
me I'm calling it a day now

The Hat is starting to take physical form
Being a bit of a bear in nature I really should be hibernating by now
The wind has dropped but snow has landed on the eastern coast of Scotland and England
The cold gets into my bones and the dark nights depress me
Apparently it's a disorder, SAD (seasonal affective disorder).
A time to go within and conserve my energy
Do I up the dose of the pills I take for my nervous disorder
see I shouldn't be blogging in this mood, but it's been weeks now...
might do some more pix of my hat plans.
I think white felted wool and Urnes style Viking Art sewn (or stencilled and sewn )on the outside
plus the longship curls at the back - not sure I can sneak my snow bees in anywhere here and my ice floes and ice flowers
oh yes and if you want to make a hat - get a head
wooden, polystyrene, anything cos I'll only end up sticking pins in my own one day

Cats hats and a poem
... briefly to college made two paper hat templates in Viking boat form
with a touch of the Schiapparelli's about them (I like to think) in an upside down shoe sort of way
I like curls
plus cats n stuff
oh yes the poem
Where the bee sucks, there suck I;
In a cowslip's bell I lie;
There I couch when owls do cry.
On the bat's back I do fly
After summer merrily.
Merrily, merrily shall I live now
Under the blossom that hangs on the bough.
In a cowslip's bell I lie;
There I couch when owls do cry.
On the bat's back I do fly
After summer merrily.
Merrily, merrily shall I live now
Under the blossom that hangs on the bough.

Let it bee
"Woke up one morning half asleep" (The Move)
semi foetal position
Suki on top of the duvet curled up in the small of my back
Sid on the other side of me just above my knees
later.. after a bit of pathetic mewing I got up to feed him
Suki, although we have reached a new level of understanding does not vocalise her demands
I call her the irresistible force
me, obviously the immovable object
but she's smart don't get me wrong
she's a master of the art of reverse psychology
and only truly responds to the most gentle of handling
ooh she's a deep one

Maman
Mais elle sa vie etait froide
comme un grenier
dont la lucerne est au nord
et l'ennuie,
araignee silencieuse,
filait sa toile dans l'ombre
a tous les coins
de son coeur
(Flaubert - Madame Bovary)

When when when
Here's a global joke
Cows & FinanceAfter the recent teetering-on-the-edge-of-total-economic-and-financial-meltdown couple of weeks it seems economic systems and their workings have pushed their way into the need-to-know-category. Well, we can now simplify this all by explaining 21 economic models with cows. It is remarkable how much sense it all makes from this real world perspective! SOCIALISM You have 2 cows. You give one to your neighbour. COMMUNISM You have 2 cows. The State takes both and gives you some milk. FASCISM You have 2 cows. The State takes both and sells you some milk. NAZISM You have 2 cows. The State takes both and shoots you. BUREAUCRATISM You have 2 cows. The State takes both, shoots one, milks the other, and then throws the milk away... TRADITIONAL CAPITALISM You have two cows. You sell one and buy a bull. Your herd multiplies, and the economy grows. You sell them and retire on the income. SURREALISM You have two giraffes. The government requires you to take harmonica lessons. AN AMERICAN CORPORATION You have two cows. You sell one, and force the other to produce the milk of four cows. Later, you hire a consultant to analyse why the cow has dropped dead. A FRENCH CORPORATION You have two cows. You go on strike, organise a riot, and block the roads, because you want three cows. A JAPANESE CORPORATION You have two cows. You redesign them so they are one-tenth the size of an ordinary cow and produce twenty times the milk. You then create a clever cow cartoon image called 'Cowkimon' and market it worldwide. A GERMAN CORPORATION You have two cows. You re-engineer them so they live for 100 years, eat once a month, and milk themselves. AN ITALIAN CORPORATION You have two cows, but you don't know where they are. You decide to have lunch. A RUSSIAN CORPORATION You have two cows. You count them and learn you have five cows. You count them again and learn you have 42 cows. You count them again and learn you have 2 cows. You stop counting cows and open another bottle of vodka. A SWISS CORPORATION You have 5000 cows. None of them belong to you. You charge the owners for storing them. A CHINESE CORPORATION You have two cows. You have 300 people milking them. You claim that you have full employment, and high bovine productivity. You arrest the newsman who reported the real situation. AN INDIAN CORPORATION You have two cows. You worship them. A BRITISH CORPORATION You have two cows. Both are mad. AN IRAQI CORPORATION Everyone thinks you have lots of cows. You tell them that you have none. No-one believes you, so they bomb the sh#t out of you and invade your country. You still have no cows, but at least now you are part of a Democracy... AN AUSTRALIAN CORPORATION You have two cows. Business seems pretty good. You close the office and go for a few beers to celebrate. A NEW ZEALAND CORPORATION You have two cows. The one on the left looks very attractive...

Lest we forget
Busy day today but have debriefed with my muse and am watching the most moving first world war programme
only three veterans left from the first world war - all over 100!
In Flanders Fields
In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved, and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.
Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.
— Lt.-Col. John McCrae

Just another Manic Monday
as I've said before...
life has gone back into overdrive again and me - I'm more of a laid back manana sort of person
not that I can't shift myself when needs be. It's just not my preferred pace
sometimes it feels like endurance sprinting
on a positive note
I seem to be making friends with the seagulls :)
ps Courboisier is deffo back on the list (Thanks Debra)

Sunday's child
Today is Remembrance Sunday and I wish to honour my maternal Great grandfather who lost his life in the first world war and to all the unsung heroes in their many guises and forms.

Payback
Uh oh ! half term from college last week and I've done nothing. Nil niet zippo. I know we had some sort of homework which I will try to dig out later. Did I mention that Suki has been sick on a couple of my prints? It's a good thing we are doing collage. Did notice some leaf prints on the ground. Surrounded by potential but totally inert. That's why I need my course and other ad hoc classes to keep me doing stuff. Oh regarding Courboisier - you have to book (and pay) and my tutor says it is all a bit dated. It is beginning to slip further down the list.
The picture is me at college last year

No time for textiles
too much navel gazing going on at the moment
plus i haven't worked out how to get out of this black hole yet
the cats will guide me
